Product Description
Zilvergelatinedruk – Gesigneerd – 2003
Master printer James Webb’s works look like stills from a David Lynch movie. Hauntingly beautiful and peaceful, yet with an air of tension and menace – a back story waiting to be told. His work has been compared to the masters of the WPA years and before, especially Alfred Stieglitz, Margaret Bourke-White, Dorotha Lange, Edward Weston but his distinctive toning and solarization has its roots in the work of Man Ray.
Webb: “This duo toned, gelatin silver photograph is printed on Forte 8×10 double weight fiber paper. The print was made using Dektol developer, cleaned in an archival washer, toned in the sun, washed again, then dried on screens and flattened. Taken in 2003 with my Hasselblad 500CM, 80mm Planar.”
This stunning photograph is signed, titled and dated verso, and is believed to be unique. The gallery price for a Webb image this size would be €500.
